Oil pump
#3
Well excuse me for being vague the car is going to mainly be a street car but may once and a while play at the drag strip, I always hear about oil issues pumping to much oil to the top end of the motor. is this just a 455 problem? I won't be running any type of restrictors in the engine and the rpms woun't exceed 5500, just not that familiar with the Olds engines, always built sbc now switching to Oldsmobiles.

Any idea of your bearing clearances? Normally for a small block a standard pump is fine. However I typically put high volume pumps in most of my stuff because they make significantly more power than a stocker does
Hope this helps.

I just did an oil pump R&R (completely stock 1971 350 sbo) w/ the MELLING M22F & HP spring. Unfortunately, I did not perform an oil pressure test before I did the R&R. I used my ATP 0-140 oil pressure tester gauge & performed the test x3 times. I have ridiculously high oil pressure.
55-60psi (cold), 30-33psi (running temp) - 10w30, 135-140psi compression (wet & dry) on all eight.
