Thanks, it does everything slightly better. Startup, idle, acceleration, and cruising are all slightly better. The most noticeable is the idle.

I noticed the same after I put a DUI unit in my 76, just didn't have the power to back it up haha.
I looked at all your pics, the paint looks great changing from direct sun to shade. It almost looks like 2 different cars. Love it!!

There are quite a few reasons that distributor is better than a GM HEI. Upper roller bearing for starters, slick coated advance weights, a slick coated shaft for durability, and an advacne curve that's easily tailored. The pickup in the distributor is also less prone to skewing timing at low and high rpms. It is the proprietary MSD triggering system too, NOT an HEI!!!

The built in rev-limiter is cool, but not really necessary. If you want the engine to redline at 5000, have someone hold the rpms at 2500 and ground the grey wire. Set point is half of redline.

The DUI distributor has 2 nylon screws holding the rotor to eliminate cross fire under the cap. So I read in box and seen after removing the cap to install. The DUI unit also seems much better than the GM unit.

Its a huge cap - there's really no issue with crossfire. There's only an issue with burn-through on cheap rotors. Plastic screws? They are 90 degrees opposed to the rotor contact. If they can't effectively get power from the coil to the cap terminals, design a better rotor. Don't use plastic screws. Ugh.

By the way, the DUI is made from many of the same components as $69 SBC aftermarket HEIs. I've heard others rave about them, but the MSD is a better distributor by far.
