I am pleased to announce that I have received a verbal commitment on a new Forged 350 piston. Although not carved in stone the specs would be;

4.100" bore
4032 material
.980 pin
1.620 compression distance
8cc D shaped Cup and the most modern ring pack available today, 1.00mm, 1.00mm, 2.00mm all steel ring set.
Price would be in the $600.00 range which would include pistons, pins, clips AND rings. Overall piston weight would be significantly less than all the current pistons available today.
This piston will also fit the 400E as well.

 

Mark I sent you a PM a couple of days ago on another subject. Have you had a chance to read it?

 

Nice Mark, looks like those will give mid to high 9 to 1 compression on a 350 with early heads. That is a fair price with rings and pins, is that the stock pin size? Too bad the Procomp SBO rods were a limited run and measured all over the place.

 

Actually closer to 9.25:1 with a 68cc head and .020 in the hole.
I revised the post to reflect pin size.

I really appreciate you taking the time to bring some nice 350 parts to all of us. I read a statement your wrote in another thread saying " You try your best" . I'm sure everyone here knows that.
The extra time you spend trying to get small bock olds parts produced for us SBO guys really shows your commitment to our community.

The pin size hurts my ability to consider this piston. Can you explain the reasoning behind the 0.980? Using Oldsmobile rods is probably not going to cut it for my application.

 

Then you'll need to go the Chevy rod and piston route. Or you can buy a bushed Chevy Rod and remove the bushing. That'll get you close to the .980 pin size.
This piston will be an upgrade from the speed pro stuff as well as being an additional size for the 350 and 400E.
