My 72 442 with 350 and TH400

I have my car in the shop for a body restoration, and thought why not try and get some more Hp out of the anemic stock 180Hp.
I live in College Station, TX and am looking for someone that can help me understand what can be done.
I would like to keep the engine looking as stock as possible, but increasing the Hp to over 300.
I would welcome and appreciate some clear and detailed suggestions. I would like to stay in the $3-5K range to get the work done.
Thanks for your help and you can email me at brooktolman@gmail.com

You realize ofcourse that your "stock" 180 hp is a NET rating. The gross rating for the same engine in 1971 was 260 hp. Getting your engine to 300 gross hp & keeping it streetable is a very simple task.

With those results I would be doing a compression check & looking at my plugs to see what is up with the engine.....definately way down on power.

oldsmobiledave- ive been thinking about my plugs lately because i know inbetween my wanna-be carb tunes im running super rich and the car runs like ****. I probably have some fouled spark plugs from too much fuel. ill pull out a couple and check the gap (.040) and try to clean em off. if theyre too bad ill just replace with standard a/c delco's
