Question Mechanical Fuel Pump Brand - does it matter??

For a replacement mechanical fuel pump are there better brands than others?
Airtex?
Delphi?
GMB?
The restoration houses seem to have very expensive ones that I am guessing are the same as I can purchase at my local parts store, or am I missing something?

I use either Carter or Airtex from the local auto parts store. As you said, they are the same thing that the resto houses sell; buying locally makes returns, warranty replacement, etc a lot easier.

Whatever pump you buy, it might be a good idea to install a fuel pressure gauge you can see while driving. This will give you a good idea of how the pump is performing under all driving conditions. Carter has a good rep., I don't know if AC Delco still builds fuel pumps.

I don’t think AC Delco builds anything now. Everything I’ve seen from them is outsourced

@dragline That is an interesting idea. Assume you just add a T to the outlet line?
