Manifold bolts strong enough?

Are the Edelbrock manifold bolts strong enough to lift the engine with, if I use 4?

Yes, I'm using a hoist

Are you talking about lifting it with chain at each of the 4 corners of the intake? Are those bolts long enough to go through a chain and into the heads? And which engine are we talking about?

I have always used an engine lift plate that mounts where the carb goes, it attaches with 4 5/16" bolts. It works on every engine I've lifted (even an aluminum intake iron headed behemoth)

The engine is sitting in my mom's garage, topless (manifold-less) wrapped up in 2 very large plastic bags and "fogged" down very well. I'm looking to move the engine out of the garage into a truck, to a new location within the next 2 months.

I bought a hoist, since I'll need it for the swap anyway, and I'm going to use the hoist to lift it into the truck then use the hoist to remove it from the truck about an hour later. The engine currently sits in a stand

I want to put in the 4 bolts, on each corner where the manifold bolt would go, put it on the chains, then lift the engine up into the truck that way.

Or should I just pick up some Grade 8 bolts from Home Depot to use instead of the Edelbrock ones (which what I was thinking of doing anyway)

Have nothing agaisnt lift plates, but I'm topless

Grade 8 is the way to go. Why worry about it because then you maybe have a bigger problem like broken engine or fingers/toes!

For an engine in that state I use some long grade 8 bolts in opposite heads (front left, back right). I put them where the A/C bracket would normally go on the face of the head. Run the chain across diagonally.

If you're going into the head they should be 3/8" - 16. Those take a 9/16" socket, maybe that's why that number is in your head lol! I usually use a long bolt so it's easy to tighten with the chain on it.
