Looking for 350 performance ideas

I'm looking for some ideas on how to get some more power out of my 350. It's a stock 1970 2bbl. as far as I know. I did put a set of reproduction exhaust manifolds on it and 2 1/4 dual exhaust on it so far. I'm on a sort of tight budget but I'd like to hear from others on what can be done and what others have done to gain extra performance. Thanks for any replies

Four barrel carb and intake. Gears, as I assume that you have the stock ones in it, which is probably 2.56. Go to 3.23's or 3.42's.

The cheapest -- and sometimes biggest -- performance improvement you can get is to simply tune what you've already got. Optimize the ignition curve and carburetion. Once you've got that nailed down, you can start looking for other ways to spend money.

I'm not sure how well-tuned your engine is already, nor how dissappointed you are with its current performance. But a properly tuned 1970 Olds 350, even a 2-bbl, will feel more impressive than 90% of the cars coming out of Detroit or Japan today.

I got a noticeable difference from the dual exhaust. Then a 4 barrel intake and carb, that helped alot.

Definitely consider a 4 barrel intake and carburetor. You can probably score a stock intake manifold and Q-jet in need of a rebuild for less than $100.
