I have just contacted Walker Exhaust regarding their twin tailpipes, part numbers 45221 and 45222, for the 1984 Hurst Oldsmobile. They replied that both parts have been discontinued. Does anyone have a lead on an alternative correct style of tailpipes that exit just behind the rear wheels?
I wouldn't say several. There's no R/L "sets" out there that I'm aware of. About 120 for a single tail pipe is a bit extreme IMO. But that's just me.
Another suggestion, if you can't find new, is to go to an exhaust shop and get some pipes bent up to fit your car, then do a 2/3 baloney cut to the end of the pipe to replicate the tip slant, and get some brackets attached (reuse old ones?) for the hangers.
Yep, taking them to an exhaust shop to bend them is the way I am going to go. $40 for one pipe is not bad, as shown in the link above, but the $90 delivery fee is excessive.

Next time I go out to the shop I'll measure the tip angle where to cut it to emulate the factory exhaust. I have 2 442s with original exhaust and an NOS exhaust system I can take measurements from.
The weird thing is, the NOS pipes aren't crinkle bent, but the factory systems are, like the Walker systems. But oddly, the Walker pipes are just a tad different than factory pipes. Had a few sets of those back in the day.
It's approximately a 31.7 degree angle. Does it have to be perfect? No. One factory pipe measured 31.7, the other 31.9.
End view and side view ot tail pipe tip. NOT TO SCALE. Measured the 85 and 87 442 as they have their original exhaust systems. Weird. They vary SLIGHTLY from side to side and from car to car. So the angles are pretty much the same, but how much "flat end" they leave on the top section is a bit variable. Typically ranges from 40-45 mm (equates to approximatey 7 mm give or take) from the top where the angle cut starts. 31.7-31.9 degrees as measured for the angles of the cuts. Again, slight variation, which are probably within production specs. It also varies a bit as to how much it sticks out, but it does need at least about 1/2" or so sticking out from the bottom of the quarter panel to clear the body panel and send exhaust away from the car.
