Lifter noise on my 371

Is there a way to adjust the lifters on my car or something? Sometimes they will make some tapping noise and sometimes they are perfectly quiet I would like to find a way to quiet them down because it gets annoying sometimes when I start it lol I can tell it is coming from the top end and not the lower end so I'm pretty sure it's nothing too serious

Try some heavier oil - back then, I think the lightest was straight 30, no mixed 'W' weights!

Drew- change the oil and filter and use a straight 20 weight detergent oil if you can find it- Tractor Supply often has odd weight oils like that.

If not, 4 quarts of any good 30 weight plus a quart of either Rislone or Marvel Mystery Oil will do wonders for noisy lifters. You don't even want to know what the factory garage recommends if that don't work. Involves a BFH.

These engines also use rocker arm shafts instead of ball and stud rocker arms. Sometimes those shafts get worn and clatter like that, though it is usually constant instead of appearing and disappearing.
