Lifter noise

On start up, when engine is cold, one of my lifters is a bit noisy then quiets down quickly when oil pressure builds. The lifter still has a slight sound when engine is warm/oil psi is up. The motor was rebuilt 700 miles ago prior to my ownership so who knows what was really replaced? I have been thinking of adding a bottle of "valve medic" that I have? Any advice or experience with this product? The noise is so slight during normal operation it almost sounds like an exhaust leak at top of headers? If it did not quiet down so quickly I would say its that?

lifter noise

Have you removed the valve cover to inspect the lifter? Maybe its loose, after rebuilding my olds 350 I had some lifter chatter. I ended up putting poly locks on, chatter noise is gone. You would also like to see if oil is coming up through the pushrod when engine is running.

Most likely a worn rocker and/or perch.
