If I'm not mistaken, the ports on the later model manifold are much smaller and restrictive. Hopefully one of the other guys will chime in and give you some better insight.

I think you can find an Edelbrock for cheap, used. Maybe on this board. Much better than that factory restrictive piece.

If you can get an A4 intake for under $25, it's an acceptable 4bbl for the street. The A5, however, has the tiny ports that match to the 7A heads. Avoid that one at all costs. A used Ebrock would be a better choice if you can find one. Depending on how long you want to look, you can often get one for under $100.

I'll ad you can always paint an ebrock engine color to hide the fact also.

Even better, if you're going for the stealth look, is to carefully grid off the E-brock logo then glass bead the intake to hide the grinding marks prior to painting.

It should, if the motor is stock in that 83 have either a normal sized #17 iron intake or A4 aluminum intake. As long as it is cheap, it will work fine. You will need a non CCC Qjet as that 83's stock carb will run pig rich without the computer controlling it.
