Redoing the ole 350. Looking at an Edelbrock RPM intake and either a Performer 750cfm carb or a Q-jet carb and a nice big K&N airfilter. I have an aftermarket RamAir hood on the car now and was wondering if anyone has had trouble with hood clearance? Going to open up the air box on the hood so I get plenty of air and thought about letting the air cleaner ride up in side of that.
Someone please pich this one apart. Also what carbs are you guys running out there? Is there one better than I listed?

Are you talking about an original, functional, OAI hood? If so, I would keep it and use it without any modifictions, that fresh cold air is worth it. The performer intake is a popular one for SBOs and lots of guys like the Qaudrajet carbs. Personally, I used a new out of box Edelbroc becuase I am not a tuner, had bad luck with an old Holley even after I rebuilt it. I think the problem was worn throttle shaft bushings and not that it was a Holley. If you have an old carb rebuilt by a pro it would be as good as a new out ot box one. Finally, some guys like to keep it all the same, you know all Edelbrock stuff or whatever, it's really up to you.
