I need more cow bell

So I just got a 76 omega couple hatchback and im not very happy with the 260 with about 175 hp at best, but the motor only has 46000 original miles. So my question is there away i can give it a little more pony power without breaking the bank?

i'll tell you what everyone else will. Ditch the 260 and buy a 350 . You can find a decent running 350 from time to time and atleast with the 350 you have room for growth.

350 is a drop in, easy as dirt, swap. Instant 2x the power.

If I put a 350 chevy in it will it bolt right up or will I need to change the housing?

An Olds 350 will be easy. A chevy 350 can be done but you'll be changing some things. Unless its a multi bolt pattern most automatic transmissions will not interchange between the Chevy and Buick/Olds/Pontiac (BOP). You'll also need to swap out the engine mounts and change some wiring as the starter is on the opposite side. Your call, but in my part of the country you can pick up a 1968-76 Olds 350 motor at a pretty reasonable price. I'd keep it simple and stay Oldsmobile.

Nitrous! Just kidding. I would look for a Oldsmobile 403. Torque is what you want. It is the same outside dimensions as your 260 so it's a bolt in upgrade. Jmo, Ken

Here's some bummer info for ya; stock they were only rated at 105 hp.

IMO, your best bet is an OLDS 350 or 403. Chevy into Olds swaps are for losers....

Fo realz...I used to have a 260...no amount of NO2 can make that motor go fast...well...maybe briefly...before you Brian Spillner the hell outta the motor and then the mad scientist and Toretto have to tear apart the block and replace the piston rings ya fried.... Anyway, find a 350 or 403, bolt right in and will make you happy.
