Have 350 chevy in my 69 cutlass, any experience with this out there?
I have a chevy 350 in my newly acquired 69 cutlass. The car is in pretty good shape, and engine/tranny seem fine. I did know it had a chevy in it when I bought it, and am just curious if anyone has experienced a similar situation. I'm not sure what year 350 it is yet (I guess I will be back and forth between this site and some chevy sites, I hope I can find one as good as this one). Any help/advice would be appreciated on things I might run into, because of the chevy, including opinions on how how much it affects resale value? Not that it is a collector type, anyway.
Thanks,

I will caution you that you will not get much help (if any) from this site. There is a great bunch of guys here who love and know a lot about Oldsmobiles. A chevy engine is and Olds is not popular here. At least you did not put the engine in the car. What you really have now is a Chevelle with Cutlass skin on it. You can get a lot of advice about different Olds engines you could put in the car. Yes, the chevy engine will affect the resale value. I think the chevy 350 engine is a great engine. It just does not belong in an Oldsmobile. I have had both and the Olds is a better engine.

Hello and welcome; Personally I would run the car for the season while I am looking for a 350 rocket, sell the chevy power in the fall and install my new found power-house Oldsmobile rocket engine...maybe even a 455..sshh did I say that..

Welcome to the site. Its true that oldsmobile guys don't like chevy power in thier olds. But really.. the car doesn't care, people do. So ,I feel it would effect resale since that is what olds guys look at.
I totally agree, enjoy the car for what it is, and think about what you want to do. Maybe a rocket motor is in your future.

Thanks for all the input, I am enjoying what I have for now and have many small things to work on for the near future. I will definitely look into a Rocket down the line as suggested, when $$ allow that possibility. I will probably have several questions along the way as to what would be the best engine/tranny to buy and where best to find it for the best price etc.
Thanks again,
