Well after being laid up for 2 months my arm is finally healed up enough I could get my car started.
Everything went pretty well, only problems I had where 2 connections in the ignition that weren't quite pushed together, 1 small transmission line leak and my old antique SW temp gauge died.
Took it out for a drive it runs great the 200r4 works great, the transmission has made the car completely civil to drive again, it screamed everywhere it went before with the 3:90 gear.
I can't say enough for the guys at Bowtie OverDrives there TV made easy system works perfect, and the Shiftwork shifter conversion works great also.
Just have to run it over and have the exhaust welded back together, after having to move the H pipe back 8" and it will be time for some fun cruising.

Where did you get the fan shroud, or is that a factory unit???

It's a 66 chevelle BB shroud. I was going to buy the plastic 442 shroud but the guy that makes them wants $249 which I though was ridiculous, the 66 unit fit just fine only had to build 3 brackets to hold it in place. It works way better than the tin culvert the car came with.

 

Glad you are getting better and having some fun again! Looks like just minor issues to wrap up.

 

Congratulations! Can't wait for "my" day. Great looking engine. Looking at the hood insulation-how did you get it under the hood bracing? Looks great?

I don't like the looks of the original insulation and it's always falling down so I made templates of the 4 dips in the hood and transferred them to a new piece of insulation and cut them out then glued them in place, I like the look.

Any fitment issues with the HEI and the factory air cleaner, or did the aftermarket intake raise it up enough to clear?

I think that shroud will be to narrow, Nova's had a small radiator, the one I used was from Summit Goodmark 4031-310-662 fits a 66 Chevelle with a 396.
I did have to trim a little out of the back of the air cleaner to clear the HEI, I have a Performer RPM which is pretty tall but still had to cut the air cleaner.

 

Just an update, yesterday was finally a nice day here in Boise so I took the car out for a long drive, everything worked perfect the transmission does everything it's suppose to do and the engine runs smooth as silk. I can already tell that the car is going to get way better gas mileage with the OD transmission. If anyone is on the fence about using one, I can only say it was worth the investment, it turned an old 60's car into a modern cruiser.
