Hello everyone. I have painted my 72 350 olds with Inline Tube Oldsmobile gold paint. Unfortunately the cans I bought were almost enough but not quite enough to do the oil pan and i really need to give the valve covers another coat as well as a final thin dusting of the block. One more can will do what I need. My question is: is anyone familiar with duplicolor's gold engine paint? How close is it to inline tubes gold? Duplicolor is $6.99 per can and goes on much nicer than inline tubes gold paint at $24 per can shipped. If duplicolor is close id just use that. Thanks!
^agreed, its already their color, get the same paint, or you will regret it.
For a motor you haven't painted yet and are starting fresh, I've used VHT Gold Flake on two now, and it looks pretty nice, and @$8 a can I cannot complain.
I would agree, stay with the same paint you started with. Next time consider Eastwood's High Temp Ceramic Engine Paint, $30/qt. Even through I only have 30 minutes of running time on the stand, the color hasn't changed.
Old thread. Personally the oil pan is the part I worry about painting the least, always gets scratched on install. Pretty much two cans and a ton of coats with the thin Duplicolor gold paint.
