Fuel sender
I think i have the two line with the retun line because there is that extra line that runs up front to the canister thats not there?
my question does anyone know if i can get the single line if i had the two line and just dont hook it up?
does it need the return line o breath? im tring to fix the gas gauge and i tested the gauge works when grounded.

I tested the gauge wire by grounding it and it goes down to empty right now it reads Way past full almost to the hot temp idiot light so it’s most likely the sending unit I’m gonna pull the tank I already checked the ground on the tank underneath that is fine

Mine is like that i fill it it goes way past full, but it drops down uniformly untill is gets to below 1/4 then it seems to pick up speed. I can attest when it says E it means it

i assumed its the wrong resistance sender, but it works enough so i dont bother w it.

or does yours not move at all?

Two line sending units are for cars with fuel return. Single line senders are for non-fuel return applications. The charcoal canister does not connect to the sender, it connects to vent lines in a different location on the tank. This is shown in Chapter 8 of the Chassis Service manual.

I had the same issue on my 70 Supreme and also on the 71 convertible with the needle pointing way past FULL towards the HOT light. On the 70 I dropped the tank and found it was caused by a loose connection on the wire at the sending unit. I crimped the connector and never had the issue again in 20 years or so. On the 71 I am too lazy to drop the tank so I just wiggle the sending unit wire behind the license plate and the gauge starts working right again, until I hit a big bump or something.
