fuel pump rebuild, help!

Hi,

I have a fuiel pump from a 1960 371 dynamic, that i am rebuilding. It is all apart and soaking in cleaner.

I cannot figure out how to separate both the lower and upper diaphragm plates. how do i do this?! '

The pump i have looks like this

The diaphragms look like this: is this how it is supposed to be separated

it seems like they are pressed together. there is no bolt to separate them both.

help please!

Also, i noticed there was a fair amount of oil inside the pump, is this normal?

If all else fails:

If you buy a kit from one of these vendors, very likely they'd pass along a couple tips & tricks.

is there a reason why there would be oil in my fuel pump? I notice it more where the actuating arm is inserted as well as in the diaphragm areas upper and lower.

The housing is open around the lever arm, so oil from the block will get into that area. If there is oil on the other side of the diaphragm then it is likely ruptured.
