Fuel problem

I have a 83 Buick Electra with a 307. It runs fine until after about 30 minutes of driving and just die. I can pour gas in the carb and it starts and die but if I wait a couple hours it starts back up fine and ready to drive. I replaced the fuel pump(mechanical) and filter but it is still doing the same thing. What else can cause this.

Engines need air, fuel, and a properly timed spark to run. Air is usually a given, you must determine if its getting fuel and spark as the first step.

I don't think ignition since he can pour gas in the carb and it starts and dies.

Could be the sock filter in the gas tank or the rubber fuel line connecters from the fuel pump back to the tank, 35 years is asking a lot from factory parts. Good luck, let us know what you find. Interesting post.
