fuel/air adjust with vacuum gauge does not work

Hi guys, I do have a question that you can answer for me please. I tried to adjust fuel air ratio with my vacuum gauge but that does not work. I closes/plug #2 and #3 and put my gauge on #1. When I turn the mixture screw to adjust nothing happens - the needle on the gauge wont move. The same when I close/plug #1 and #2 and put gauge on #3.
Engine is warm, rpm is ok, timing is right. Quadrajet on a 1966 330cui olds with automatic and brake booster. What do I do wrong??

For # please see attachments

Do you know why. Thank you very much

BR daniel

Hook your vacuum gauge to the port that has high vacuum at idle. If the 2 adjusting screws do nothing then your idle is too high and the engine is running outside of the idle circuit or you have a very large vacuum leak.

^^^This. The easiest way to get the correct port is to NOT use one on the carb, but instead go directly to a port that screws into an intake runner. Typically the port used for the vacuum modulator on the automatic trans is a good choice. The trans does not need that to be hooked up when it's in PARK.
