71 Cutlass Horn Does Not Work

I have a grant steering wheel on my 71 Cutlass and I decided to figure out why my horn does not work. I took the wheel off and saw that the button was not connected to anything. The horn button connector was missing alone with the spring and retainer. I just got it in the mail and can't figure out how it connects to the button. The button has 2 leads and one is label as a ground. Is this were I connect a jumper wire? And how would that connect to the rod and spring to make contact? I also check the horn relay and has 12volts on 2 leads, will I have to ground out one to close the contact so the horn works?

I tried putting a Grant wheel in my Cutlass back in the 80's. The horn contact pin and sleeve and spring for the original wheel were too long. The kit they supplied was more of a PITA that it was worth. Sorry, I can't remember a lot more than that, but if you go to this link it might help http://www.grantproducts.com/tech-support

BTW, I found that when I put the Grant wheel on? I was less than excited about how much of the gages and speedo I couldn't see anymore. The wheel was waaay to small.

You are right about not being able to see the gauges. I figured out how to connect the horn but now it just starts honking on its own so i guess I need to replace the intire turn signal connector.

Yep - just ground the wire that is in the column and you have noise!
If your button has two contacts, one goes to ground, the other to the wire in the column. The original contact just pushed into the contact hole slightly and turn the contct body clockwise a 1/4 turn to lock it.

Turn signal connector should be fine if horn des not blow without anything connected to the contact in the column.
