engine code location, no tape on oil filler

My '69 does not have the engine info tape on the oil filler tube. Is it stamped on the engine somewhere. Thanks Terry

Engine code by water pump 395558 2

Have found the engine stamp by #1 spark plug and verified "69 and also has the correct Vin #. Same with transmission.
Thanks everyone for the help. This forum never disappoints!

I don't think the letter code is stamped anywhere but you may be able to narrow it down if the block VIN derivative matches the vehicle VIN. Do they match and what is the year and model in question? Auto trans? A/C?

Terry as Sugar Bear mentioned. What model of Oldsmobile, all original, 2bbl, 4bbl, air cleaner housing color, etc ? Those are of course no guarantee of confirmation, but will at least have us looking in the right direction...

395558 2 just tells us it's an Olds 350.

That two-letter code taped on the oil fill tube usually disappears over time. You can get a replacement at Fusick once you determine what that two-letter code is, based on the specs of your engine (A/C or no A/C, two barrel or 4 barrel, heavy duty cooling or standard cooling, etc.) and transmission type. You should be able to locate those specifics in your PIM/assembly manual.
