Should they stay or should they go?

In an attempt to do some detailing under the hood of my 72 Supreme I added these engine code stickers. Now I'm not sure if I wanna leave them. To me, they kinda "clutter things up" if you catch my drift?

Thoughts and/or opinions?

Thanks,
Dave

I personally like the engine ID decals, but what does the lower decal signify?

You've got non-original carb, intake, wires, valve covers, and oil fill cap. Adding original stickers like that just tells people that you added them for no reason. It's obvious that this isn't an original stock engine. FYI, the two letter engine code on the oil fill tube is a tape that goes completely around the tube, not a little sticker like that.

Nuff said Joe...off they will come. Thanks for the input. Question though...if my oil cap isn't original, what does the original look like?

That one you have is for a 1980s 307. The earlier ones look like this. Also, the tube and cap are engine color.

The style you have is correct for 71 and on, however there shouldn't be any decals on it. As Joe said, engine color only.

Look again. The oil fill cap that he has with the black and silver decal is from a 307 and definitely doesn't look like yours.

Ah so there are three styles. I just saw the raised "handle" and as you only offered the picture of the 70 and older style for comparison I thought I would indicate the correct one for his car, as he asked, not realizing a third version was available. My bad.

That tape was already missing on the 1970 Cutlass that my father bought second-hand in 1977, so apparently it wasn't designed for longevity.

Yeah, I have to laugh when I see all these stickers on restored cars. I never saw then on original cars in the early 70s.

I would buy a case of Amsoil, use the sticker that came in the box and wrap it around the fill tube then call it good .
