Will it run? Most likely yes. However it won't even be close to optimum without a different chip etc.

Yes, there is. You need a distributor off a 80's CCC 307. The wire colours will match but the plug is different and the extra black wire is ground. Otherwise all the sbc sensors will work.

If you have the $$$ the aftermarket set ups are much easier to tune to your set up.

If you're going to upgrade over time then don't buy the Atomic. You should get the Holley instead. You can upgrade that all the way to a multiport if you want to. Can't do that with the others.
And virtually all aftermarket systems are compatible with MSD parts.

One system, one controller for everything.

FITech (not EFI Tech) works great. I just fired one up, stayed running on the first click of the key, tunes as you drive. And soon you WILL be able to convert it to multiport. No learning curve on this one, other than adjusting the throttle blade screw screw to get the IAC setup right.
Now here's where I get bashed by cutlassefi...

I NEVER "bash" anyone unless they're spewing crap. Or if they've done something one time and are now an "expert".

Please show me where I crucified someone for their OPINION, not spewing crap that they claim is fact. Like I've said many times, if you can support what you say with hard facts, I'm all ears. Everybody learns that way.

I am surprised they run as well as they do without any timing control. It is nice to see TBI set ups for under $1000 on the market.

For $1000 you DO get timing control with the FITech. For $800 you don't. Since I recurve distributors for a living, I don't want timing control. That allows me more opportunity to develop advance curves that work. In this case, since the throttle body flows more air than a Quadrajet, the advance curve needs to be modified slightly from what used to work.

How does it work? Beautifully! I don't have many miles on it yet, but every drive improves the fuel mixture and makes more power. Having played with FAST, Megasquirt, and modified factory systems, this is SO much easier and the end results are equal if not better. The self-tuning algorithm is slower than the one in MS systems, but its working well, and it errs on the safe (rich) side.

I would rather have timing control that changes with the conditions and a included knock sensor would be that much better again. It looks like the Sniper won't work with the CCC HEI but can work with a locked out MSD or their $450 dual sync distributor to control timing, according to their instructions. I also have to decide on either the Robbmc Powersurge or an EFI tank and pump. If I start with a 2 grand system, it can creep up to 5 grand awful fast with all the extras.

[QUOTE=distributorguy;965617]For $1000 you DO get timing control with the FITech. For $800 you don't. Since I recurve distributors for a living, I don't want timing control. Why not? That allows me more opportunity to develop advance curves that work. You can NEVER, REPEAT, NEVER duplicate on a conventional distributor what you can on a good EFI spark map, NEVER. In this case, since the throttle body flows more air than a Quadrajet, the advance curve needs to be modified slightly from what used to work. And that would be best done by the ECU.

To everyone else, it may put distributorguy out of business but spend the additional $200.00 for spark control, you'll be glad you did, I promise.
