converting
#1
My wife thinks I'm nuts, but I'm trying to save my '72 delta 88 from the junkyard. I'm trying to take this car that has too much undercarriage rust to fix and slavage as many parts as I can. I found a '72 delta 88 and was looking for some answers about transfering parts. Is the header panel, (head lights, parking lights, grill and bumber), interchangable from '72 to '74. Also looking to change the tail lights and rear bumber, as well as the dashboard. I guess I'm looking to convert a '74 back to a '72. Can any one tell me if these conversions are possible, I have found a '74 but haven't purchased it yet until I knew it could work.
Thanks in advance for any help,
72 Delta 88

.. to a 68 Delta at all.
My best advice would be to mesure some of the bolt patterns on the parts you want to switch over. If they come close, then go for it. If they're not even close, then you're looking at a lot of work.

I have a '71 olds 88 Custom sedan with a 455 2-barrel. I have found that 1971 -1973 fenders, headers, and hoods are interchangeable. Some trim features didn't follow, but bolts right up. In 1973 the bumpers changed, so did fillers, etc.. 1974 moved side markers around. 1975-1976 more changes in fillers and trim.
Headers off olds 98 will exchange easy too, using the same years as above. Pay attention to the hood as these may vary, but fenders are no problem.
Dash parts switch too.
I have a 1976 98 too, and have been hunting for parts.
good luck!!!
