Question Carburetor Adapter question.

I have a stock 350 with a quad jet .
What adapter is needed to put an Edelbrook carb on this so I can get the original one rebuilt.
I can't have the car undrivable bacause of my locations bylaws and one "special" neighbor that would call if they found out it was not able to be started and moved.
The special neighbor already called once because it didn't move, was not driven during the winter months because it snows here. Told me I should have it junked because no one should drive any vehicle that is more than ten years old. So you understand the special kind of neighbor I'm dealing with. No HOA, but I rather not have the town having to stop by because of their silliness.
Thanks for your time.

Is it a factory intake? I used an open Amazon spacer, worked fine for an an Edelbrock/Holley pattern throttle body. There is also a 4 hole to help transition the factory spreadbore to a square bore pattern. Sounds like a special neighbour.

Does the factory intake have both bolt patterns? I honestly cannot remember - it's been a long time since I've been up close to one.

If it does, then any 1/2" spreadbore to squarebore adapter will work. You have to figure out all the vacuum lines. Depending on year, there can be quite a few running to the qjet and aftermarket carbs usually don't have quite the same arrangement of ports.

If your intake only has qjet bolt holes then you need the type of adapter that has its own bolts to bolt down then has threaded holes for the edelbrock carb to bolt to the adapter. Most adapters just have through-holes and it just acts like a slice of bread in a club sandwich that gets squished. Same note on the vacuum lines.

Throttle ends are usually different, but you can cobble something together with bolts and nuts.
Choke may also be an issue if you're using the stock heat choke. You'll need to switch to electric (need a circuit on with ignition that can handle a couple of amps - don't pull straight from the coil!!!) or manual. Or have real fun and go with no choke!

Do you have that Edelbrock carburetor right now? If not, buy another Quadrajet instead to replace the OE Quadrajet when you remove it to get rebuilt professionally. Even a Chinesium Quadrajet should be able to start the engine and idle enough to move the car.

No I do not have the other carburetor, I was offered to borrow it from a friend while mine was being rebuilt.

Original intake that g.m. put on the 350 olds in the 70's.
Problem is I don't know what adapter to get, seems there are more than a few and not sure what would be the correct one.
