Carburetor 7043251 or 7043250 ?

Ok , Remember I know nothing about very little under the hood! I am learning as I go along.....
I know that the right carburetor for my 455 car is a Rochester Carburetor 7043251. Now that I am ready for the carb to rebuilt and performance modified(whatever that means) I have found that the fuel intake threads are completely gone and they can't be fixed. So... I have a Rochester Carburetor 7043250 which is correct for a 350. They both seam similar in everyway from the outside, so my question is since its getting rebuilt and set up will this carb work for me or are there some limitations that would prevent using it? Is there a difference?
As always Thanks!!!

i'm reasonably sure those threads can be heli-coiled. beyond that, yes, your 250 core can be calibrated for a 455 application.

The only difference in the two is,250 has,.069 jets, and the sec rods are .077. The 251 jets are.070, and sec rods are .057. You can change them from one carb to another. I had a 70 VC with 350, put in a 455. I used the 350 carb at first, and then I thought if it was a problem, I would make the changes. Car ran great as is, never changed a thing.

Thanks Bill And Harv ! I did not think you could heli coil a carb. I thought it would leak and I didnt want to risk that on a car I have spent so much time and energy on. I think I am leaning toward getting both rebuilt now since it seems to be a relatively inexpensive task.
I appreciate you help gentlemen! My brain is trained to work with wood as I am a carpenter by trade. Thanks!
