carb boils over, hard to start

newly built motor and rebuilt cqrb, '69 350 2bbl, very hard to re-start when it's hot. really floods very easily, sometimes won't start till just before battery gives out ....... what about a fiber ( or whatever they are ) spacer or insulator of some kind for the carb ????

Perhaps float height? Mine was flooding almost daily when i didnt adjust the float to factory specs..

Apparently it's flood season for 2GC carbs.

As noted, check float level AND float condition. Heck, if you've got the top off the carb, put a new float in and set it properly. Also, ethanol in today's gasoline can easily boil, so if the problem persists with the new float, THEN put an insulator under the carb.

i am going to try the carb insulator gasket and fuel line insulation. the float heights are good. what are the thoughts on blocking the heat crossover? does anyone have a part number for the intake gasket with the passages blocked off?

I got side tracked here on other stuff,, carb problem..... I haven't found an insulator gasket yet, just thicker gaskets. O'rielly's says they only have them for 4 bbls......... when I rebiult my motor, I got a gasket set thru Mundello in Calif, the intake (exhaust) Xover was plugged off, I actually cut it out in order to use the choke heat pipe..........maybe that was a mistake

too much fuel pressure. i put in a pressure regulator and it seems to be fine.. the "boiling" was just back pressure from the pump blowing past the floats.

If it comes down to the insulator (everything else checks out), use one that does not conduct heat. This will help if the problem is gas percolating. Got mine from Eedelbrock.
