Bolting a holley on??

This might be a dumb question, but what all is required to bolt a holley carb onto the olds manifold. Do you need to use the square bore to spread bore adapter? Also, what is needed for the linkage for a TH400 tranny? I guess, what all am I buying to replace the qjet?

Well it matters if the carb you are getting is a square bore or a spread bore, if it is a square bore then yes your gonna need that adapter. As for the linkage, the TH400 doesn't use a kickdown cable as the TH350 does. TH400 uses a kickdown switch.

So basically it's as simple as just bolting on a holley and tuning it with that adapter? Are their any linkage adjustments necessary? I'm from a world of fuel injection. Grew up understanding that better than a carb and I'm learning slowly and everyone I know can build a holley in their sleep, but no one local has quadrajets. I figure I'll learn about carbs with a holley and how they work and mess with that. Much simpler design.

You would be amazed someone has a Q-jet near you GM made so many. Yes the Holley is simple, but the Q-jet can preform just as well. The adapter is not the best way to go and is as close to junk as you can get. Holley makes a spread bore carb that would be the way to go if you want a Holley and stock intake. Other wise with a square bore you need the correct aftermarket intake.
