Question Bolting Aluminum intake to engine

I am getting ready to start ordering parts for my 350 rocket rebuild, and was planning on using an edelbrock intake. I know from bad experience with the 1988 S-10 V-6 engine (2.8L) that the intake manifold gasket leaked, and was a common problem. The solution was to go with a special bolt and bellville (cone shaped) washer. Would I need something like that for the 350?

I just put a preformer on my 455. I dont know about special bots, I used anodized grade 8 bolts and washers I hope they work fine but have only run the motor for about an hour since the new manifold was on it. I will tell you that I didnt listen to the advice about end seals on here. DO NOT USE END SEALS use RTV silicone I used a stock type turkey tray and used the end seals with it they pushed out and I had to pull it and remove them. Good Luck

the 2.8 engine you speak about is part of the 60* V-6 family of motors, A great motor, but since 1980 when that motor came out, they leaked at the Lower Intake Manifold. GM corrected the problem in 2003. Great job for GM for only taking 23 years to fix the issue

With that said, you should have any problems bolting that mani to the engine

X2 on the RTV, it's the duct-tape answer to a gasketed engineering world.

I put an Edelbrock on my 330 this spring it worked perfect, I used the stock intake gaskets with some black RTV and I RTV'ed the ends with no gaskets.

I have a similar situation. I found an aluminum intake mani that'll fit my 330 in a 67. Main question is do I need to swap out the original intake mani with a 2bbl on top to fit a 4bbl upgrade Edelbrock 600 car?

I used an Edelbrock Performer RPM on my 350, and had no problems. But I too am a believer in RTV, and use it even with a gasket to ensure a seal.
