Balancer bolt

Hey everybody.

What size head is on the balancer bolt? I forget if it's 1 and 1/8 or 1 and 1/16

Will I need to use a flywheel stop of some kind when removing and replacing said bolt? And does it have to be anything speical or can I use anything.

All I need is the correct size Impact socket and oil pan gasket and I can throw in my timing chain and 5 qt oil pan and all the goodies. Heads are going to have to wait a while though

A 1 1/8" Socket is what you need.

You may have to experiment to see what it takes to hold it in place while you break it loose. I've actually had to soak one with liquid wrench for a few days and use an air wrench to remove it. Hopefully yours won't be that bad!

II prefer to block the flywheel but you can make up a long bar and two 5/16" grade 8 or better bolts to secure it to the damper hub, and run to a frame rail.
