Alum intake

i have an alum intake from a 1982 350 olds that i'm considering putting on my 1972. will there be a performance gain? is it worth the time and effort or just leave as is. it's a numbers matching engine.

I doubt you would see any performance gain. You would save weight if your current intake is cast iron. The 80s weren't known for their hi performance machines. Except for the Buick GN.

Does your 72 have a two barrel or 4 barrel carb? I agree with Olds64, if you are just swapping the intakes with the same carb, you most likely will not see any performance gains. Actually, you may lose some.

Yeah in the 1980's cars where very underpowered for fuel ecomoncy and emissions. The 307 may have had 255 ft lbs, but only 140 hp. Hardly enough to churp the tires

I have the stock cast intake with a Rochester 4bbl just rebuilt. Any suggestions for rod changes on that?
