Removing engine/trans with alum intake manifold?
I am going to remove my 350 engine/trans soon, but it still has an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. Is it safe to put a carb plate on and lift everything out by that way?
The last time I removed the engine/trans as a combo, I never had that carb plate, and just mounted to the heads.

I feel that way also. I don't want to ruin the Edelbrock RPM intake (although that would be the least of the worries if the engine fell). Since I stupidly scrapped my stock intake long ago, I will have to use the heads for now. I will have to put an ad up also b/c I need a decent stock intake anyway.
Another related question... I have Hooker headers and the pass. side will not slide out (it is completely unbolted), as it keeps hitting the oil filter. I put these headers on about 20 years ago, and can't remember how I put them on. Does the oil filter need to be removed? I also have that huge A/C thing on the firewall. The pass. side header is the only thing left that seems in the way of removing the engine/trans.

Yes you can pull the engine and work the header out. It is a pain in the *ss to pull both the engine and trans. I would suggest you do the engine by itself and then drop the trans. Makes less of a mess on the floor.
