77cc Cylinder Heads

Hello everyone,

I was looking in a Summit Racing catalog last night, when I noticed that they offered 77cc Edelbrock cylinder heads. I was looking at the mopar, chevy, and ford ones and noticed that they had higher cc's for there heads. I have no idea is 77cc's is good or not can you tell me?

Not sure about the other guys (chevy, ford, mopar) not familiar with their engines or heads. Unless you are planning on a pretty expensive engine re-build or already have a one, I don't think you would want to spend all that money on Edelbrock aluminum heads. Most Oldsmobile stock heads are pretty good.

I agree. You don't need to run aftermarket Edelbrock heads if you are just building a mild street car. Do a search on our website and you can find the casting numbers for the desireable heads.

Big block C and E heads are good. I am not sure what small block heads are the most desireable. I want to say #5 heads.

It is meaningless to compare the combustion chambers or runner volumes on heads from different engines. The compression ratio depends on the piston dome or dish volume, the deck height of the piston, the compressed height of the head gasket, and the bore and stroke of the particular engine in addition to the chamber volume. The only comparison that is meaningful is the chamber and runner volume of one Olds head to another.

Blue...I thought you were running a 350.
That is more of a replacement head for a 455, with the corresponding intake port opening that will not match the 350 mainfold, unless you pop for the Performer RPM, and have it matched.
