71 cutlass intake
71 cutlass intake
im thinking of adding a edelbrock performer rpm carb and manifold to my 350 which is stock except for headers. my only concern is the 4bbl carb might use to much gas. right now i have a stock 2bbl. has anyone done this this swap? about how much more gas did you use? i drive the car about 1.5hrs a day and dont want to be at the gas station every night.
Use a quadrojet and your milage will be as good as the 2bbl as long as you don't put you foot in it. The Performer RPM is a better manifold but the way it sounds like you drive your car you might be as well off with a stock manifold or an Edelbrock Performer. They are about the same as far as performance but the Performer is lighter and you can find them on ebay pretty reasonable. If you are planning on future mods then the RPM is probably the way to go. That is just my 2 cents. Good luck.
Right on! Either intake is good, as mentioned, if you plan future modifications the RPM is the way to go. Please do yourself a big favor though, run a Qjet, as opposed to the Edelbrock carb. For street drivability, fuel economy, and the kind of throttle response that makes ya grin, you will be much happier with a Properly set Rochester.
The Qjet is bullet proof when built by someone with experience. There are also some AC Delco replacement metering rod plunger springs to fine tune. If you need part #'s let me know, I have them written on the wall behind my carb bench, lol.
