I've been working on getting this cutlass in road worthy condition for about a month now but I can't seem to get it running right. The engine runs strong at idle in park but when I put in in gear it idles rough. Also acceleration after a stop has to be slow and even otherwise the engine trys to stall. Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks in advance.

 

What are your tuneup settings? Is your trans still a Switchpitch Jetaway, and is the switch and rest of the system operating correctly?

 

To be honest I'm not exactly sure what transmission is in the car, but I'm pretty sure it is the original. As far as tuning the only thing I've adjusted id the idle mixture screw. I haven't found any other adjustment screws.

 

How are your cap, rotor, and wires?

Maybe you should spend some time reading the Chassis Service Manual, and get back to us after that with some specific questions.

Like what was said, check your cap, rotor, points, plug wires, fuel filter, fuel pump pressure, and most of all check your timing.
Get a shop manual and start reading.
