65 rochester

Hi everyone I am rebuilding my carb which is a 65 rochester 4 barrel. I was hoping someone would know if the bearing in the bottom of accelerator pump is suppose to come out. It looks like it does on the exploded view but mine will not. thank for any info Jeff

do you mean the check ball in the bottom of the accelerator pump well? yes, that is supposed to come out. there may be a retainer ring holding it, but you should be able to see the retainer ring. if the ball is stuck, spray a little carb. cleaner in there and tap the ball with a 1/8" drift. it should fall out when you flip the bowl over. if you know which passages are for the accelerator pump discharge, cover one of them, and blow air into the other one(don't have your face above the bowl when you do this... think bb gun). i haven't played with a 4G in a quite a while, this is just from memory.
