55 & 56 Pushrods; hole or No hole ?

Hi Guys, on the 55 & 56 pushrods; which year is solid & which year is hollow ??? Thanks !!!

As far as I know all Olds pushrods before 1965 were solid. (except F-85 ).
Oil to the rockers was supplied by internal passages in the block and heads.
There were several different push rods used through the years, as seen in group 0.426 below.

My guess would be that the OEM pushrods were "grooved" somewhere to identify them.
You'll note that the pushrod lengths are given. Try to find rods that are as close to the length for your application as possible.
Allow .020 leeway and you should be OK.
Aftermarket pushrods available today, have a solid ball electro welded to a tube.
They are spec'd for '52 to '64.
