49 Olds Big Six

I have a 49 big six that needs a total rebuild. It appears that oversize pistons and rings are not available? At least I have not come across any at this point. What are you guys doing that rebuild these engines when they are worn and need to be bored? Also, what type of bearings are used? Is there a special procedure to setting them up? It says in the manual that they are babbit. What does that mean as far as the rebuild goes? I'm a fairly expierienced rebuilder, but this engine is older than what I have worked on in the past. Thanks for the input, Mark

Try Egge Pistons. If they don't have them, you probably can't get them. Here is the link:

I'd second Egge. If they don't have them, they'll make them.
Looks like their website is down. You could try contacting them through their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/EggeMachineCompany?sk=info

Egge, of course.

There's also an Australian company that will make any piston that's ever existed in any size you want. I forget their name, but I can get their contact info if you'd like.
