350 Rocket Power Issue

350 Rocket Power Issue
Okay for starters here's the build of my 350 Rocket:
Edlebrock Performer RPM Intake 7111
Lunati Voodoo Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam 262/268
Holley Avenger 770 Carb
Hooker Full Length Headers
3.42 Posi 10 Bolt Rear end
9:5:1 Compression
Today we finally finished installing the rear end and new brakes and I was to drive the car around for a bit. To be honest it's not performing the way I felt it would. I feel like I'm getting the power I was expecting.
Any suggestions? My father thinks the timing is way off and could be the issue??

Yes stock heads. I couldn't locate my timing light so we didn't have a chance to check his suspicions of the timing. I'll be checking the timing next weekend when I'm free. It's been a while since the motor was actually rebuilt and I honestly can't remember what springs I used unfortunately.
I was expecting to at least be able to smoke the tires some as the cam selected was for low end torque plus the positive traction with the 3.42 gears...

He may be right and I'm definitely going to check the timing. I was just trying to gather other opinions so that when I get back to the car I'd know some other things to troubleshoot in case that was not the problem. Thanks.

OK, so here's my opinion: The ignition timing is way off.
Been there, done that in my younger days before I had money to buy the right tools (such as a timing light) and set the timing by ear - incorrectly almost every time.

As said, check the timing. Does it actually have 9.5 to 1 measured compression, a 219/227 cam is on the big side for 350 ci, it will need that 9.5 to 1. You want your total timing in by 3000 RPM at the latest and you want 36 to 38 total. I found 36 fastest at the track, 38 to 40 felt better on the street. Hopefully your converter is flashing at that 2400 RPM. I went from 1/4 block burnouts hitting the gas to only spinning with gravel on the pavement. The stock 1400 stall TH350C converter sucks big time compared to the 2300 flash stall and 2004R I had in my 70S.
