350 head question

I was wondering if anyone could help? I have a 1971 Olds 350 2 barrel stock. I was thinking of getting #6 heads and having them redone and install on the motor with a new intake and 4 barrel with HEI. Would this help and increase my compression for better HP ?

No, the 6 heads have the same combustion chamber size as the 7 heads so no difference in compression or flow rate. FYI, the 5, 6, 7, and 7a heads all have similar chamber volume and flow rate.

Also the HEI will not increase power, it will just remove the maintenance of points.

Do a compression test or even better a leak down test to determine the condition of the engine in general. Check the timing chain and gears.

Adding a 4bbl and dual exhaust will increase the fun factor and add a little performance. I personally wouldn't bother with HEI if what you have is working well.

Yep. The 1971 and 1972 engines were essentially the same, with the following power ratings (SAE NET specs):

These are the 1972 numbers that are broken out by carburetor and exhaust, whereas the 1971 specs just show the dual exhaust 4bbl with both GROSS and NET numbers.
GROSS = 260 HP
NET = 200 HP
