The tolerances for the plunger and bore are very forgiving, and I would highly doubt that this is a problem of the wrong part.

It's a quick job: Tap out (or in) accelerator pump pivot roll pin, disconnect linkage (usually about two pieces) between float bowl and air horn, remove choke connection in most expedient way (understanding that it will be "fun" to re-connect), remove top screws, remove two carb.mounting screws, and lift off airhorn.

No need to remove the carburetor (and fuel line) if you don't want to, and you can then observe accelerator pump action in-place.
