30 minute engine detail
I have re-sealed the top end of my 330 in my '67 Cutlass. I also installed a 4-barrel factory intake and a Q-Jet carburetor. Everything seems to be working well and no leaks so far. I haven't driven it much though so that may change. While I was rebuilding the carb, I sprayed the engine with a generic engine cleaner and sprayed it off with a pressure washer before installing the Q-Jet. It looks decent, nice and clean, but not very exciting.

So I took a few minutes and spray bombed the engine. The gold paint is Krylon Gold Metalic from HD and the black is Duplicolor Low Gloss Black engine paint. I moved a few things around and used cardboard to "mask" things off. For half an hour, it turned out pretty decent. Not great, but decent.

Not really, I think it said it was good for 250*. I expect some discolorization around the exhaust crossover and around the exhaust ports of the heads. But everything else should be ok for a while. It just looks sooo much better now. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

Hats off to you!.
Your ongoing saga of your car is a fine example of how to do a decent job at a budget price.
Perhaps the car isn't gong to win a concours award anytime soon, but you are showing enthusiasts with limited resources that a car needn't be a money pit.

Thanks Dane. I will probably be pulling the engine when I change out the transmission. If I do, I will probably repaint the whole thing then. Take all the brackets and hoses off and paint everything properly. This was mostly an attempt to stop the intake from rusting, and give it a better look. It was flash-rusting after I used the pressure washer.
