New member here. Read this thread but sadly there was no follow up or update. I realize It is a very old thread but curious if there is another recap somewhere?
The lack of follow up or conclusion on a thread is often the case unfortunately.
On the bright side the OP is still an active member. And I am going file this one under the no news is good news column.
Thank you for the response 68CSHC. There is a selfish reason for asking, I am in discussions with the owner to buy this very car. He has disclosed that he had an Olds 350 professionally installed. I stumbled upon this site/thread and realized It is the very car I am looking at.
At any rate, more curious than anything. The car is fantastic.
Did the previous owner give you any specs on the engine? Sounds like it is a fun driver, which is all that counts.
I purchased the car last week. I drove it home and today I get all the paperwork (they just needed time to get it together).
VERY nice car, needs some TLC mechanically (steering intermediate shaft, cruise transducer, radio). Already have the exact replacement parts to address those issues.
Quick update. The 350 is a 1972 with 7a heads. True duals, 800cfm QJ, Per-Tronix Flame Thrower distributor. Car runs well, starts easy, good drivability. Get's moving when you get into It a little. Definitely stouter than 307 HO I have driven before but definitely no rocket ship. This car is gorgeous though. Still have some maintenance to do (brakes, speedo, steering gear....) but really glad I found this one.

Looks beautiful !
Love how it sits and the tint is just right, 35% ?
Was it a mild build on the 72 350 or just a generic rebuild ? Because when stock but true dual exhaust both make similar hp. And the extra oomph you are feeling could just be the extra 50 lb ft of torque...

Thank you for the comments. Yes I agree, looks to be 35% tint.
The motor was built with a mild cam. Trying to get the specs from the owner. The exhaust is a cross pipe design and sounds nice. Car has a little lope at idle, not big.
more to come. (Also came with a trunk full if 1st olace trophies ) 😁
Sweeet. Yep, that 350 isn't the major player many people think they'd be when swapping out the VIN 9 307. It's a stout engine for its size. Don't get me wrong, a 350 is better, but not tremendously.
Hit me up if you're interested in a shiny new set of LR *****. Yours seem a bit "chalky".

The previous owner was trying to keep this car looking original as possible. He is in his late 70s and did all the local car shows as well as the North Texas Olds club shows. The car was graded a 987 in one if the Olds regionals. (Before the engine swap). What I am getting at is he was less concerned about "upgrading" and more about keeping the car alive. That said he was convinced to go with 72 350. (Not by the shop but by fellow Olds Club guys).
Anyway, love the car. I am working to make It as mechanically sound as It is pretty. 😁
The LR ***** are actually in good condition , just a woodgrain finish (similar to the dash). They aren't original. Thanks for the offer!
