The engine shakes from side to side not sure what its from was told it needs a tune not sure would there be any tell tale signs of things that are wrong sounds and such and what would the possibilities it could be

 

Just because the engine shakes doesn't mean you need a tune up. Does the car run well? If not then it very well may need a tune up. If it runs fine then you might need new motor mounts.

 

X2 motor mounts

 

Worked on a cutlass that the motor mounts was BROKEN, and when he accelerated, the engine twisted in the frame enough that the alternator was hitting the hood.

To check and see if its mounts, pop the hood and look at the motor from the driver seat. Yeah, its a little wierd looking at the gap between the hood and the cowl, but it works unless you got a bud to help you.

Look at the motor and put the car in gear. If it jumps to one side violently, you most likely need mounts.

now, if you have a missing cylinder (or two) the motor will shake. How bad it is will depend on a number of factors. Are the missing cylinders balancing the rotation out? Is it something internal to the engine, ie burnt valve, bent rod... etc.

Things tend to get amplified if there is more than one problem.

 

Believe it or not it could be a ruptured choke pull off. Gave the 307 a noticeable shake but ran fine.
