What would everyone recommend for a reliable starter? Stock motor and exhaust manifolds. Mini starters any good? Rebuilt/remanufactured are sometimes short lived. Thanks

I purchased a powermaster 9610 mini starter for my 76 olds and have run it for 2 summers now. I've had no issues with the starter other than somewhat louder when start-up. I really like the weight savings as well.
I hope this helps

olds 350/400 starter

I was looking at the powermaster 9610 and 9510. Thanks for the feedback. My motor in Ohio is suppose to come with a used mini-starter. I think the 350's starter I have now is failing. Thanks again.

Get a hold of Stellar on this site. He's an old school rebuilder in Pittsburgh, and can make you whatever you want, with QUALITY parts, for a good price.

Mini starters can have issues and follow feedback from people on Summit or any other site. I picked up a Powermaster used and it lasted a couple of years. I bought a Summit Olds mini starter and had issues, probably from over tightening the contact. The newer ones have a warning tag. I also picked up a no name that had a weak Bendix shortly after. I also found the cheaper sbc mini starters fit. I bought the Summit brand and what pos with a crappy warranty. I bought the Powermaster for $7 more and had a year warranty, still going strong on the Olds powered 4x4. I find with headers and custom exhaust and the front diff on the 4x4, mini starters are necessary.
