A seperate section for Vin # etc. lookup...

I think it would help if there was a section that dealt specifically with helping people look up VIN # information about their car.
This could include links and other information.
It could also include the same for engine and tranny numbers, body plates and tags. The list goes on...
The reason I'm requesting this is because I used to be able to search this site and find this information pretty quickly.
Now, when I search for Vin# information, it brings up about 200 threads ( or more).
Just my opinion. I know it would help me and others I think....

I like the idea. One can never go wrong with a vehicle database. It sure helps track the history of a ride.

Atdog,
If you use the keywords VIN decoder in your search it only shows 26 posts. It was fairly easy to find this link http://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/
but it's only for 1972 + cars. If you want info about 1971 and older this link works well: http://www.v8cars.hu/oldsvin/vin.php

I understand your initial question completely, but it's not all that hard to find the information. Took me less than 2 minutes. I went on a leap of faith that you're looking for stuff on your 68 "moneypit" LOL I understand it 100%, so I just typed in 1968 gm VIN decoder and these links weren't hard to find. Store them in your "favorites" for easy reference.

Allan, Thank you very much! I wasn't using 'decoder'. Thanks for the links!
