Forum is STUPIDLY DIFFICULT to log into

So I haven't been on here in a long time because I've been fooling with my other old cars and the '67 442 has been on the back burner for several years. So today I decided log on to try to get an answer to a question for a friend who'd found a 67 442 he's interested in and asked me several questions that I can't answer. I've been trying to get to a password I can actually remember or save for over 15 minutes and the process is mind numbing. (I'm on over 50 old car groups, Administrator on 1 and moderator on 2, and have NEVER seen this level of unnecessary complication). So I forgot my password, or at least it wouldn't accept the one I had written down. No problem, get a new one. So I get one via e mail and it would be impossible to remember, is complicated to type, and trying to control and C it from the e mail instead gives about 20 characters which don't log me in, instead saying wrong password. So after back and forth to the e mail several times to get the complex one, I finally get logged in and try to change the password. The first line accepts. Type it again, hit login and it says passwords do not match. So I do it 3 more time and get the same passwords do not match. So back to the complex one just to get in, but can't save that one because it shows the 20 character copy instead of the 8. I mean SERIOUSLY GUYS....................... does it REALLY have to be this hard?????

It is maddening, but @oldcutlass can get you squared away. He has been unflaggingly helpful in straightening out my similar sign-on and user ID issues.

Eric can fix it for you but I have to say with the title of this thread, you are not doing anything to get help. Just a little harsh.

Yep, I was quite annoyed when I wrote it................ trying to get to an appointment but trying first to help a friend who was out of town and on the way to look at a car. When people get old and grumpy (like me) impatience gets worse.

Next week they'll implement two-factor authentication requiring an Authentication app. Just kidding,

First off pm me the password you want to use. it only takes a second for me to change it. Secondly, the error message you were getting is due to typo errors causing the retyping of the passwords from the first to the second lines, the site has no control over that. Don't fault the site in trying to ensure the security of its members.

I actually prefer IB's website engine to other automotive forums I go to from time to time.

I write all my car-related site user names on sticky notes, along with their respective passwords. If I forget one, can always access them. Obviously am not using public computers.
