How long do you have to be a member before you can view pictures? It says I dont have access to this page whenever I try to view a members pics.

I see you've got 5 posts, so you should be in like Flynn now. You might have to logout and back in for it to work, but you should have full viewing and posting access to the entire site now.

Welcome. You have to be a Classic Olds spam war veteran to really know how bad it was, the buck stops here so to speak. Your name is a little long 19684424speedconvertible, can we call you '684424spd'vert for short?

Or, your name for shorter...

Yes the spam was terrible. By having people post in this forum first, if they are spammers or spam-bots we can catch them and ban them. Kind of like getting all the animals in the corral. Welcome to our site.

See above Dell, gotta have days or posts. But since you seem pretty legit I went ahead and moved you to full access. Enjoy!

Flint. It's "in like Flint".

From the 1967 movie of the same name, starring James Coburn.

77olds98 if you need another post tell us about your car. How long you've had it, is it stock or customized or something in between

Joe, I have always heard "Flynn" but that could have been someone saying it fast and it gradually began to be reapeated that way, plus In and Flynn rhyme. When I was a kid my Dad remarried and we moved back to New York where I lived for a few year. My step-brother and I were trying to get a couch though the door when I said "lets try Caddy-Cornered" and his reply was "What... you mean Kitty Corner?" The english language is a funny thing sometime!

Yeah, it's like "could care less" and "couldn't care less". Clearly they should mean opposite things, but people use them to mean the same thing.

Actually, it's CATTY-corner...

(Which is a lot closer to "caddy" than "kitty")

Well alright, hahaa....She's a '77 Ninety-Eight, 350 4bbl. Known to me as Stella. I've had her for about 3 years, bought it from an old-timer who just drove it within the county and once and a great while upstate. It had about 84,000 on it but it's up to about 91,000.
As for mods, I took off the "cold air intake" and just put on a nice hot rod style air filter --immediate difference in acceleration...it's basically stock. As for the interior, there are a few customizations like a thermostat where the clock used to be, installed new rear speakers (boy, did they need to be replaced!), and a sweet new CB radio. Oh...and don't forget the curb feelers!

I've been thinking alot about putting on a little louder muffler, but I really haven't worked much with exhausts...so I'm still debating how important it is.

When my dad and I were members of OCA in Kansas City there was a member that owned a black 77 98 coupe with a black vinyl top. It was a BEAUTIFUL car. He and his wife would always come to the functions with their little "yip-yip" dogs. I would get underneath his car and open up his cut-offs for him (he didn't like getting down since he was older). That was definitely a COOL car.

A play on the already common phrase "In like Flynn".

Before James Coburn, there was Erroll Flynn.

(He was 33 at the time). It was Flynn's belief that the Los Angeles district attorney had made him a scapegoat for Hollywood in order to discipline the film community. Jerry Giesler (Flynn's ace lawyer) considered Flynn an excellent witness and thought that his "gentlemanly demeanor throughout the trial had been an important factor". A new phrase was added to the English language: "In like Flynn" ........

I looked on my motor and trannie. On the motor the numbers were 39558 2 & 16. On the trannie I got 70 JS179 D. On the rearend I got 9AJ O 170 or 176. Can you Please tell me what all these numbers mean? I want to build a nice fast car. The motor and trannie came out of a 76 Cutlass and I am going to put it into my 85 Cutlass. I do want positive traction too. Please give me part # and name. I really think you in advance for the info.
