Its funny how everyone with a pic in thier sig has a Best buy pop up right smack in the middle of it..

It's got to be a site issue. I know of a couple other Vbulliten based sites that do not suffer from this issue whatsoever. I've noticed a TON of ads plastered all over this place since they sold out to Internet Brands in 2008. AND then I just noticed THIS at the very bottom of the page.

"Content Relevant URLs by vBSEO 3.5.2"

So I Google it.. its designed to DRAW web traffic... using search engines...

http://www.forumscriptz.org/threads/...l-sitemap.926/

Or this one...

http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/de...=CVE-2012-5223

Nothing like letting hackers right in the front door. Good Job internet brands. Good job.

John

Glad to hear it some of you have been able to rid yourselves of that damned pop-up nonsense. Seem like it's a constant battle to be left alone on the internet. Good luck to all. Mike

With an iPad that VW ad sometimes pops up center screen w no provocation from me. Then it hangs there for 10seconds or so.

As others have stated I'm less inclined to buy from something that annoys me, and after owning more VWs than most I would advocate to all of you to not buy one either!!! VW has IMO the worst dealerships and service after the sale when compared to any of the major brands. That opinion is derived from multiple dealers and experiences w VWOA

So even tho I have pop up blocked w safari I still get the pop ups? Anyone know how to block them w Safari ? I couldn't find a spot to block specific sites like IE has

Retro, I'm in the same boat with you and the I Pad nonsense. Mine is also set for pop up blocker, but obviously not working. Hopefully, someone with "Apple Literacy" will help us out.....

I was just about to make the same post about the vw ads when i saw this thread. I am an i pad user, and i have the pop up blocked through safari, just like you do, to no avail. I even went on the konrera site' which hosts the vw ads, and opted out of them, which didnt work either. I dont have the problem with a pc, but i really enjoy the ease of browsing through this site with the ipad.

iPad users tentitively rejoice !!!!

I went to settings general about advertising and selected limit ad track and for the first time when I visited this thread I didn't get the dreaded VW popup from hell. Granted the jury is still out but try this and post here if it works for you....PC based browsers stop looking so smug LOL. ...

IDK if that's what did it as I also turned off location services and there was a feature that sends Apple your usage habits that I turned off as well.

I don't care for unwanted ads, downloading additional SW when it's not absolutely needed and for sending corporate my usage habits on anything

So hopefully this does it

Thumbs down

[QUOTE=willys33;] I can't figure how these morons think spamming/annoying people will make you want to use their products??

X to the 10th order willys33!
This worked for me. I had to sign back in and 99% of its gone. Just the small banner at the bottom. Within that banner they provide an opt out option there too on the upper right corner. It brings you to another page in which you can opt out of everything! NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!
Wish I could do this with all the Xmas, lawyer, drug and Billy Fuccillo ads on TV!
Thank God the election is over too!

It's kind of different to have a thread in this forum last so long, two pages worth. Wish there was something we could do about it but it's the price to be paid. Right now there is an add just above the composition box as I type this for the 2013 Outlander Sport.

Dan, the ads don't bother me one bit. Its the pop ups in the middle of the screen that stink...doesn't happen on my computer due to ad-block, but the I Pad is a different story.

There is an easy option: don't use an iPhone!

Problem solved.

HAH, me too!

On the security blocking a site method... maybe at home, but here at work the system administrator evidently has made it impossible for me to add sites to the restricted list. Bummer...

Well, the "flavor of the day" now seem to be The All New Cadillac ATS, instead of VW. A royal PITA. My browser, Google Chrome.

These ads on here must really be slowing down the site. 98% of sites on the internet are faster.

Ok guys here is something we can do to help out IB. Here iis a quote from Robb at IB when he replied to my request for help on the second thing you can do.

"Can you please do me a favour. I am not seeing, or able to replicate the ad experiences these members seem to be having. I don't run any type of ad blocker, or pop up blocker, so that's not it either. I'm going to need a couple of things. Could you please ask the members to take screenshots of the problematic ads, to demonstrate to IB how they affect the user experience? Additionally, if I'm going to have any success finding them, and getting them blocked, I will need the click through URL of the problematic ads. Members can hover their mouse over the offending ad, and right click, and they should have an option to 'copy the link' or 'copy destination URL'. If they can also provide that information, it will make it much, much easier for me to take quick action."

Now it's up to us to help IB help us fix the problem.
